October 2026
When the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published its assessment of Carinyo Care in May 2026, our overall rating was Requires improvement. Safe and Well-led were also rated Requires improvement, while Effective, Caring and Responsive were rated Good.

While 2 areas were deemed to be requires improvement, 3 areas were identified as good.
We listened to the findings and have worked to strengthen our systems, staff support and management oversight. Here are some of the improvements we have made.
Strengthening safeguarding
All care staff have completed safeguarding awareness training and can access our guidance through QCS. Our Registered Manager has completed Level 3 Safeguarding Adults training. We also reviewed the historic concern identified during the inspection, completed the appropriate referral to the Local Authority and submitted a referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Regular audits and incident reviews help us monitor concerns and share learning.
Improving recruitment checks
We have improved our Recruitment Compliance Tracker and standardised our recruitment records. Existing staff files have been reviewed, and onboarding audits and management sign-off help check that required information is complete before a carer is allocated to a client.
Building staff skills and confidence
Our induction includes practical learning and competency checks. Carers receive practical medication and moving and handling training, with assessments before they carry out these tasks independently. We monitor training electronically and use supervision, probation reviews, annual appraisals and six-monthly spot checks to identify support needs.
Strengthening records and oversight
Our care management system is now in use to support care records and management monitoring. We have also introduced regular checks covering safeguarding, recruitment, training, medicines, records and onboarding. Findings are reviewed and actions tracked so we can identify gaps and check whether changes are working.
Listening to staff and promoting dignity
We reinforce that staff questions and concerns are welcome through induction, supervision and team discussions. In July, our team took part in a dignity-in-care session with Jan Burns MBE, and eight staff registered as Dignity Champions.
Our registered office and Statement of Purpose have also been updated to reflect how we manage our live-in care service.
The CQC assessment recognised positive feedback about staff kindness, dignity and support for people’s independence. We are proud of these strengths and remain committed to improving the consistency of care and oversight.
We have invited CQC to return and assess our progress. Until a further assessment is published, the May 2026 ratings remain our latest CQC ratings. Improvement is ongoing: we will keep listening, checking our practice and acting on what we learn.
